Day 36

Today, i'm blogging about today as ONE of the lecturer says today must blogged. Well Alfie, it can't be you right? Then you should know 'who' since the other guys don't bother that much ;)

Day 35

As i could not transfer the video through my house computer as well, we met up earlier to do the transferring. However, the computers,firewire and camcorder didn't work at all. We tried like million times but it just refused to read. What's worse was the lecturers were rushing us like hell. Horrible. After a century has passed, we finally got the video into the tape. Rushed down to the LT for presentation. We saw the other groups' video and some of them really did a good job. Well, our video is not that bad too. We did our best for it. I'm proud of our work :DD

Through these two months of working together as a group, i learnt how to communicate better and learnt our very own talent. Well, like what Alfie has said, we need each other to come out with good work. We might not be good in everything, but we just need to be good in one thing. I can really see the meaning of it. Thank you Alfie for all your help and patience. I'll remember what you mention in class or outside class. Cause i think your words are really enlightening to us :) 

I really wanna thank my group members for everything they have done for this project. Thanks for always tolerating me for being not in time. I sincerely apologized for it. Thanks for being here every meeting we had. Thanks for keeping up with the schedule and making sure our work is done. Thanks for the patience you guys have in you. Thanks for all the fun you guys have brought while producing the video. Thanks for everything everything. If not for you guys, it's impossible to get this production made like heavenly :))

I have learnt more than what is taught in class. I appreciate the opportunity and i look forward to working with you all again. Cause you guys are awesomeee :D Love all of youu.

Day 34

Yay, we finally finished our p1. So super duper happy. I'm very satisfied with the work. Well, could be better but we can only do what we could with the amount of time we had left in total. I really wanna thanks my groupmates for contributing so much and putting in so much effort for it. Thank you Gina, Shuxian, Adeline and Kala. All of you are very understanding and patience. Most of all we communicated well and we definitely enjoyed ourselves in the making of this video. Though there's some punctuality issues and i admit my bad, we learnt to tolerate each other and do something to solve the problems. Once again, thank you all of you so so much. Love you all!! :DD

Well, we finally completed the video. We met up at in 3D lab again and started all the editing. All the footages are gathered and being put together using premier. After all the many many many edits, we added the audio. Edited it as well and oh my god, it matches perfectly! Awesome. We then add in transition like fading in and out. Everything looks smooth :)

However, the transferring of video is bothering us again. I suggest the school to either renew the computer or the camcorder. All of them just don't work together. It's com works, camcorder doesn't and vice versa. No choice, i brought home Gina's hard disc and same, i cant burn it into the dvd. The dvd is giving us problem too. No many how many times we load the video in, it's still become an empty disc at last. Now we can only wait for tomorrow and get the working com and camcorder to transfer. Oh yeah, there's also a p1 screening for all of us tomorrow. It's a good interaction with all the MOI students and we can share opinion and suggestions from everyone present :)

Day 33

Although we have a planned schedule, things just don't always go accordingly. Today we need to transfer some footages that are kept in my mac. However, no matter how many times we tried, the hard disc that we're using just refused to accept the files we wanted. So after awhile, we borrowed a hard disc from sarah and yes, it worked. We transfered for like 2 or more hours. And caused a delay in sarah's group work. I sincerely apologize and thank you for lending :DDD

After the transfer, we continued working on the video. We have also finalized the audio and Gina's gonna remove the singing from the songs. Thanks dude. :))

Day 32

Headed to Gina's house to continue working on the video. We did audio selection and edited parts of our video. Due to some techincally problems, we didn't manage to do alot. We did some backups for our works and make sure everything is safely kept. 

Well, as time passes, we got restless as Gina's house is so so comfy. She got like all sort of instruments. Needless say it's the piano and guitar! So we got so engrossed with all the instruments, we decided to end our day of video editing. We then left around evening time and continued doing the works at home :)

Day 31

Today is another day of editing. After having all the photos and after effects in my mac, i started the editing for photos. I tried different kind of effects. To be honest, i don't quite remember all the things taught for after effects. So, when i come across any problems, i will approach my friends for help. As i do, things started flashing back and i kind of remember how each thing was done. Slowly, i managed to get a hand out of it. 

Other than this, Shuxian and i also did a simple credits for the ending. It's just fonts and colors selection. We communicate well and got it done :D

We're all trying our best to finish what we need to do. And not forgetting the blogs, we assigned ourselves with a task. Have to update our blogs! So when the deadline is near, we don't have to panic and ending up having no time to finish up our video. Seeee, we're good in time management. Clap clap* :DDD

Day 30

Continue doing our editing today. 2D lab is still as packed and 3D not open. They should know everyone is rushing their projects now and yet the lab is closed. Oh well, at least we got a computer to do our stuff. Pictures that were taken were edited in Photoshop and passed to me. I'm supposed to gather them all using After Effects but my mac doesn't have the software. Moreover, students aren't allow to download in school so i have to do it at home. We then continued on the editing and do as much as we could.

Day 29

Presented our work to Alfie today. He likes our opening of the video :D But for the animation, we suggested that we add more colors to it. Black and white will be a little too monotonous. He also told us the requirements for the final presentation and the scheduled date for our work. Monday, everything done by 1700 and Tuesday, transfer everything into a tape. Well, i guess will have to rush our work. We don't seem to have enough time. But i can see that everyone is trying to do what they can and i really appreciate it :D

Day 28

Working at home day,

Did our storyboard. Redrew it as the previous one was a little untidy. We also re-plan the shot sizes so me and Kala did the redrawing of it :)

Day 27

Uploaded the last video into the computer today. We're preparing for the presentation on Wednesday. We're going to show Alfie our animation and storyboard. Everything will be redo for better visual presentation and we will also re-organize it. We will wait for further confirmation on what is expected for the presentation. We'll take a short one day break tomorrow. Well, we're still gonna do work but we'll be doing them at home :)

Day 26

We have decided to carry on with on filming without the edited script. Well, we can't let script itself delay us from doing the whole project. Moreover, it's not that our original scripts are bad. So, we continued with our shooting for content.

First was Gina, me then Adeline last. Gina brought her condenser mic along so we can have a better audio. All of us have many NGs shot as we're nervous in front of the camera. Though we know our script well, the words just don't wanna come out. After spending a few takes on each of us, we finally finished all the filming. It should be the end of all the shootings. We can full focus on editing and animation now :D

Day 25

Well, no script today again. There's only editing and animation we could do. Oh no,  I can sense the insufficient of time now. 

We got our 2D  art fundamentals works from Amanda and went to take pictures of them. We are actually supposed to be done with our shooting for the content. But the script is delaying us from keep up with our schedule. So we can only change and push forward what we're suppose to do after content filming and work on that first. Well, i'm glad everything is still quite organize and manageable :)

Day 24

We are suppose to do our filming for content today. However, our script is not ready yet. Aflie has yet to update us on our confirmed script. So, we decided to do some editing for the previous shooting. Well, what's worse is both the 2D and 3D were packed with people. Not even an available computer for us. No alternatives, we went up to the mac lab. Things didn't get any better, all the mac didn't have any premier software. After all the headed here and there, we still did nothing. What a waste of our precious time. Tsk.

Day 23

Met up at 11 today. Gina brought all her mic and audio accessories. Set everything up and recorded the audio and filmed the interview of Kala. A few NGs as Kala got so nervous in front of the camera. Still we got everything done. Thanks Gina for all the effort and help in the audio. You're the besttttt :D

We wated to do some editing for the labs are all occupied. How unlucky. Oh well, no choice but to do it tomorrow.  Everything will be fine! :D

Day 22

I was late today. I'm sorry everyone :)

Met them in the 3D lab. We're decided how we're gonna film our interviews. After awhile of discussion, we decided to go look for Alfie regarding on our scripts. He only managed to look through Kala's. Have a short chat with him and we continued our shooting next door. We were shooting on Kala's animation process. After filming Kala, it's my turn. We went up to 3D studio and got my 1m by 1m painting. I'm supposed to act as if i'm painting but it's actually a completed piece of painting. Well, we're taking the process and give others an idea how 2D art fundamentals goes. After we got everything done, packed up and go home :DDDD 

I'm glad we're following our schedule. We're actually quite organized i can say :DD Applause pleaseee**  ;D

Day 21

Did our credits together with shuxian aka 'shu shu'. Reconfirm the fonts we're using and did everything in flash. After that, we proceed to Bedok Reservoir for shooting. We're filming Gina taking photos as a process of Photography. We make everything seems like a field trip. Stayed there for awhile and feel the peacefulness of the scenery. After which we headed back to school to have further shooting. Did the second shooting of the day in the 3D studio. Shu shu is supposed to demonstrate how to make a clay pot. We used quick motion to make the process faster. It's kind of interesting and fun. We also tried shooting from different angle. Overall, it's satisfying. Packed up and that's all for the day :)

Day 20

Today,we met at 1030 as usual. We uploaded the videos for the past few days and it took us quite awhile. While waiting, we started on our animation and script. After doing and confirming all the necessary stuff, we send Alfie for checking. 

At 12, we went over to the classroom to shoot our first interview. An interview with Aflie. Thanks Alfie for helping and of course, we got a good take. Well, we had a few NGs but we did it still :)

After Alfie, we got Alvin to help us with a scene. He did a good job too. Not only that, we taught us about the focusing and lighting of the camera. It was great having his help. I learnt how to handle the camera better then. Once again, thanks Alfie and Alvin for you help. The A.A ruleeee. Peace :)

Day 19

Yes, met up at 1030 as usual. Gina, shuxian and i went over to the workshop to cut our foam. We cut in rectangular shape to form 'books'. After which we wrapped it up with white mahjong paper. Headed to the classroom then. However we came across some problems so we can only push it to the next day. So everything shall continue tomorrow :)

Day18

Today,we met at 1030 and prepared for shooting at 12 noon. Why 12 noon? Cos it's when all the crowds will appear. We are filming the opening. It requires us to hold up a board for a few minutes provided us standing at the same spot. We then will fast forward the video, giving the still shot and fast motion effect. 

As we're getting ready for shooting, we realised our camera didnt have enough battery span. So, we approached Hanis group and borrowed their camera. Thanks for the help :) Our shooting went well. It's quite tire holding up the board for a few mintues. And everyone who walked pass will just stare. Oh well, i enjoyed it. We communicated and co-operated well. We discussed the camera angle together and get the shooting done together. We also got help from germain to handle the camera for the last scene where every one of us must be in the scene. 

Overall, today was great. Looking forward to more filming tomorrow :D

Day 17

It's a brand new block today. We're left with about 3 weeks to complete our project. Well, time to get real serious now.

We met at around 12 plus and Gina brought the flipbook she had done over the weekend. One word, awesome. It got the flow and the hilarious part of the stickman. Great work Gina. Thanks for the effort :D Did some improvements on the stickman and proceeded to filming the flipping of the book.

Did the shooting in the classroom. We took some time looking for the best camera angle. Did a few angles and yeah, got the shooting done. It was great working together and i enjoyed the process. It's totally fun :D 

We're gonna do the filming of our opening tomorrow and do selection of works :)

Day 16

We didnt get to meet up today as we had our design history and culture presentation. Everyone is busy doing their last minute printing and pasting. So, we're starting and giving our full concentration for p1 on the coming monday. Well, a brand new block too. Have a happy weekend :)

Day 15

Presentation today. Did a brief and informal presentation. We presented the work we're done, our story board, schedule. Our schedule is not yet confirm so we're not sending Alfie yet. Continued our group discussion after the presentation and get some stuff settled. Everything is still in order and we're keeping up with the half confirmed schedule :)

Day 14

Did our scriptwritting today in the mac lab. We talked about the script we're coming out with and each of us will be in charge of having one module, talk and demostrate. Literally, our script is done. We then do research on the different types of fonts we're gonna use. We found some interesting fonts and we jotted down the names. We ended our disscuion then. :)

Day 13

Met up at design entrance. We shared our ideas we had yesterday with Kala and everyone is satisfied with it. Completed our storyboard then. Tomorrow gonna start on script, grahpic, color selection. I'm glad everything is going well :D

Day 12

Kala wasn't with us to discuss our work today. She fell ill. Take care babe :)

Anyway, we were at mac lab discussing our work again. We spent so much time discussing just on the content. The more we discussed, the more ideas we had. So we decided to stop throwing in ideas and finalised our content. And yes, we did it. Did some editing for the content and ended our day :)

Day 11

Today, after attending Alfie's lesson, we started on our storyboarding. We headed to the mac lab to further discuss. Discussed on our opening. As time passed, everyone started to get restless and practically we can't concentrate anymore. We didnt actaully did a lot today. Maybe we haven't feel the urge of the project. I realised we cannot slow down our pace if not we will not have enough time to complete it. We should really finalised our ideas and script before the production week comes. 

Day 10

We didnt have filming today.We realised we have had enough footage so we decided to save up our time for more discussion and planning.As we're discussing,we got lost.We don't know what exactly our video is gonna be like.We have alot of ideas but no matter how hard we think,we can't combine our works and the footage together.Everything just don't link.While we're all straining our minds,something struck me.Trailers.. I suggested my idea about making everything seems like a movie trailer.We can combine animation and video together as well.Everyone agrees so we appraoched Alfie for further comments and suggestions.Well,Alfie likes it too! We're very happy that we finally have a target to hit.Now we're on our path again.Let's all make it work! :D

Day 9

Filming today in school. The year 2 did their filming outside Lt 24, tv studio and the ramp at design entrance. Majority of the filming took place in the tv studio. Well, i can say that today's filming is not BORING. Instead, i kind of enjoyed it :D

Filming indoor is so much easier as the lighting will be fixed. Filming went smoothly and suddenly, it blacked out. We can see nothing at all. The seniors then went to look for technicians and awhile later, the lights were back. Continued filming till we used up our tape. The seniors ended their filming in the studio at around 3 and so we packed up.Headed to the ramp after that. As they needed crowd, we joined in as the extras. It's quite interesting to be part of it :)

Had two days of filming and we guess that it's more than enough. Hope it's useful for our video :)

Day 8

Today, everyone met up at Bras Basah to do filming. The year 2 crews were already there when we reached. So as they set up their equipments, we set up ours. We observed the whole process of filming. From setting up to directing to communicating with actors, i can truely see and feel the efforts. It's not a easy job to do. Each scene is important. The camera angle, the expression of the actor, then recording of audio, mostly importantly, the lighting. I can see how difficult it is to get the right lighting.

After an hour or two, we started to get tire and restless. Our attention span are used up. We can hardly focus on the filming. Well to be honest, it's a little boring. We then sat along the stairs to have some rest. Slowly, i dozed off :x
Anyway, after the shooting ended, we packed up as well. Gonna continue tmr which will take place in school.Yay, no need to travel anywhere.Let's hope it's less BORING :D

Day 7

Hi everyone, sorry for not updating for awhile.

Today, Alfie talked to us about the objectives of our project. Seems like it's gonna change again. Alfie was wondering what's the main objective for this project was. MUST we showcase our work? We were discussing about this issue then when Ronald walked into our class. He then explained what is required and told us that we'll be informed again for further confirmation about whether showcasing our works is complusory.

Anyway, we are starting our filming tmr. As the year 2 are doing their p2 now, it's our chance to capture some 'behind the scene' scenes. Our schedule is still not confirm as we have to go with the year 2 schedule. But no worries, we'll get the confirmed schedule done asap.

Day 6

Presentation today. Every group presentated their ideas. I find some of their ideas quite interesting however for one paricular group, i'm kind of confused about their concept. I hope other groups understood our ideas.
After presentation, Alfie gave us comments and suggestions on how to improve and how our work can be done. So,we went back to our group and went through our ideas and concepts again. Slowly, our members started giving better ideas and concepts. So we decided to change our plan. We added a mascot in it. It will be a stickman and from there, we came out a group name for ourselves which is called ' The Stickman Production'. I like the name :)

In brief description of our idea, everything will somehow be the same but there will be a stickman popping out in different scenes.

We planned our schedule and probably will start filming the Year 2 from next week.Good luck to us :D

Day 5

Today, we did our group discussion again.However, this time round, we finally narrow down our ideas and finalised one idea. It's a combination of video and animation. After Alfie's advise, we came out with better concept and got prepared for the presentation tomorrow. I'm in charge of presenting the ending. Hope everything goes well :)

Day 4

I'm late for class today.Sorrry! :/

Well,when i stepped into the class,Alfie was talking about Objectives of our projects.He briefed us again on our video project and suggested alot.I think all the stuff he had said makes alot of sense.No wonder he's a lecturer.Haha :)

So,now our main concern should be developing concpet ideas.We have to focus on how to catch the attention of the students.Hmmm,how can we catch their attention? Wanna give me suggestions? Haha! Oh well,Alfie said something true which is,we ourselves already have such short span of giving full attention,how are we gonna keep the younger generation's attention? How...

After his breifing,we then sat in our group and discussed on our concept.We introduced new ideas and somehow changed the way we wanna shoot it.We set our objectives and focused on our concept and everyone of us were supposed to think of "why we are here in tp design,in MOI".Food from design canteen? Hot girls? Well, it's more than that. :)

Day 3

Hi homies,i'm back! Sorry i didnt update for the past two days.My bad.

Anyhow,we had our second combined lecture in LT today.Alfie,Ronald and Wahidah showed us some video regarding on how we can start our project 1.

They showed us set up of movies,introduction and ending of movies,the different methods of shooting and how are they bad and how are they good.There's animated intro and ending too.That will benefit those who are taking animation as major or those who wanna be ambitious and try out new stuff :)

I find all the videos useful and i come to realise that there's quite a few ways of shooting.It can not always be the same standard way of shooting newsasia or documentary.I like the opening of Hostage.It's very creative and it gave me ideas on how i can do an opening.

After all three lecturers have showed us what they have,we're so eagered to leave.So,we're dismissed. :D

Day 2

Hii,jen's back.So,today's the second day.Well,everything went well :)

Class started at around 1230.All the groups gathered respectively and discussed about their ideas.For my group,we sat together and each of us gave the ideas we thought of.First,we wrote our ideas down in point form.Then from there, we selected the most effective one and focus on it.Our style of presenting it is sort of Harry Potter style.Remember there's this scene on those newspaper and painting in Hogwarts School moving around talking to each other? Yes, that's how we want our concept to flow.I'm kind of excited to do it.

HOWEVER,after approaching Alfie for advise,we realised that our concept is close to out of point.We forgot who we are targetting and how we want to showcase to students that MOI is not just MOI but something real special.So,Alfie guided us from there and yeah,we are on the right track now.

Oh ya! Something hilarious happened in class today.Alfie is reading this but it's okay! Hahaha.So,Alfie went outside to talk to some students.Adeline suddenly asked us to help her keep a lookout for Alfie cause she wanna wear his spects.HAHA! Soooo,we stood near the door and peeped at him.Adeline's turn then mine.When it's gina's turn,Alfie SUDDENLY walked in! Caught red handed duhh.Thought he'll stare at us or something but! He said,"oh,you like my spects huh.Later let you try." HAHAHA! So friendly omg! He rocks totally. :D

Anyway,jokes aside,it's really time to sit down and think seriously on what we want.Concept is more important than style.So,i'm off to think now.And there's gonna be a combined lecture in LT again tmr :)

Day 1

Hiiii,jen's gonna start blogging on MOI Proj 1 here from now.Kind of weird isn't it? Blogging for lecturers.Oh well.haha

Today's our new block,P1.Everyone went for the briefing together at LT25.Alan briefed us on what is required for the project.Well,it's to come out with a video about ourselves.Schedule and all are given and stated clearly.Presentation 1 is on Day 6.Wow,that's quite fast,for me.But no worries,can be done yoooo :D

After the briefing,we're asked to go back to the respective classroom and meet our lecturer.Alfieeeeee :) Formed our group.Adeline,gina,shuxian and kala are in my group.I'm very satisfied with the arrangement.Alfie then explained what is expected and gave us informations on how the video can be done.Though it's ALITTLE long,everything he said are definitely useful.He's so helpful.Omg,so niceee :))

Alright,anyway,we're released after that and were supposed to think of our theme and ways of shooting the video as "homework".Well,i'm still thinking.Soooo,that's all for now! BYE! ;)
